Cruise with us to discover the tranquil life of living on Smith Island.  A place where you can see everything by bicycle or golf cart. Or you can simply stroll the lazy one lane streets of the island and talk to the Islanders about the land they call, simply, "Home." While on your stroll you can visit the gift shops, browse the general store, peek inside the tiny Post Office and explore the Smith Island Center where you can learn about the way of life in this extraordinary community. And then stop by the Bayside Inn and have lunch. Smith Island is Maryland's only inhabited offshore island accessible only by boat. See for yourself the rugged beauty and simple charm of its three villages. The boat docks at Ewell, and you can take a cart to another village, Rhodes Point, but you have to take a boat excursion to see the charm of Tylerton.

Smith Island lies roughly twelve miles west of Crisfield, Maryland. When Captain John Smith came ashore here in 1608, he wrote in his log, "Heaven and earth seemed never to have agreed better for man's commodious and delightful habitation." Come take a leisurely hour cruise  with us from Crisfield, across the Tangier Sound, to this historic and quaint island of the Eastern Shore.
